Twitter And Stuff

Those of you who are social media savvy will probably recognize that some Twitter feeds have been added to the sidebar. They are designated by the "@" symbol. For those who don't know, rbehs is Pete, mrschoewe is Matt, DonaldSchoewe is...well, self-explanatory I guess, and diupnorth is Dianne.  If you have a Twitter account and want to be added to the blog here, let us (Matt and Pete are probably your best bet) know, and we can help get your feed on there.  Or, if you know what you are doing and have Administrator privileges, by all means, go ahead and help yourself!

The stuff...you may have also noticed we have updated from "classic" (old) blogger to the new blogger (which is actually several years old now).  The new blogger has much greater functionality.  For example, you may notice that some longer posts (like this one) are now truncated on the home page of the blog and have a link that says "read more," that links to the entire post on a separate page.

If you want to do that with a post of your own, you have to first log in to blogger, choose The Schoewe Blog on your dashboard, choose Settings, scroll down to find  "Global Settings" and below that "Select Post Editor."  Next to "Select Post Editor," make sure you have the option chosen, "Updated editor (Recommended) - Check out the latest features!"  After that, go to Posting to make your post, make sure you are in "Compose" mode, and if you move your mouse over the various icons, you will see one says, "Insert Jump Break."  The icon looks like a piece of paper that has been torn in half, horizontally.  Simply place the cursor wherever you want the post to be truncated on the home page, click on the Insert Jump Break icon, and there you go!  The "read more" part is automatically inserted, so don't worry about that.  Just publish your post (after you have completed doing everything you want, writing, adding pictures, whatever), and the rest will be taken care of.  Simply "Publish Post," "View Blog," and see how it looks.  Of course, if you don't like it, you can always return to the Posting section and edit your post.  Good luck and let Matt or Pete know if you have any questions.  (Ok, fine, I admit this is Matt signed in as Mom, but I'm too lazy to sign in as myself and do all this again--even with cut and paste.)

So, judging by Pete's retweet of the Raiders euro-thingy, apparently retweets are not picked up to import to Blogger? Hmmmm...

I also found out, tonight, that if you choose the setting in twitter to protect the privacy of your tweets, Blogger cannot import them.
