Sunday In Chicago

Hot and humid, as predicted, and starting to get cloudy--so, maybe that hot 8 days of thunderstorms is on the way. On the bright side, I am house- and dog-sitting for some friends, so at least Rainey gets to hang out with friends (in a much larger place than my apartment), if not go out much. On the other hand, as I was telling Mom, I'm getting a little cabin fever myself, and I'm not quite sure what to do about that. Maybe start a new blog...

Or a new book. I found some books sitting around here in the apparently read stacks, so I picked up a few. After reading a few pages of each, including something about Alexander the Great, and some fiction about criminals in the Twin Cities, I have now made an effort to start reading Dan Brown's latest: The Lost Symbol. Why? Isn't it the same as all the rest? Probably. Seems like it, so far. But, if it's like the others, it will be easy reading and mildly entertaining, so I'm ok with that. I'm nearing the end of The Gulag Archipelago, so a little break with easy and mild entertainment seems about right for this morning.
